Reno Fire Department Responds to 70+ Service Calls

The Reno Fire Department says it responded to more than 70 service calls within a span of eight hours on Thursday. 

Three of those calls included structure fires on East 10th Street, Stead Boulevard and Gentry Way within about three hours.

The first fire, started just after 1 p.m. on East 10th Street. Crews say they found a stove on fire. One resident was treated for possible smoke inhalation. The family of five was able to remain in their home. 

The second fire, on Stead Boulevard started just before 2:15 p.m. Crews say they found a charred couch and other debris that had threatened a structure. This fire was quickly extinguished.

And the third fire, on Gentry Way started just after 3:15 p.m. Crews say they found a room apartment on fire that had apparently started in a kitchen area. The entire apartment sustained fire and smoke damage. The lone resident was displaced and will get assistance.
