New Voting Machines Coming to Washoe County

Posted: Updated:

Washoe County voters can expect to see a new voting machine when they head to the polls for the 2018 primaries.

The Washoe County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase of around 1,300 new voting machines Tuesday. The Nevada State Legislature approved the funding for the new machines last session.

"You're not really going to have to learn something new," Luanne Cutler with the registrar of voters says. "You're going to have a similar experience to what you've always had when you come to a polling place to vote." The new machines are expected to offer a more user-friendly experience.

The board went with Dominion voting machines. They are estimated to cost about $4.2 million dollars. $1.7 million is coming from the state budget.
