Lake Tahoe's First Recreational Pot Shop Opens

Posted: Updated:

Lake Tahoe's first recreational marijuana dispensary, NuLeaf, opens Saturday August 5, 2017 in Incline Village.

Recreational marijuana sales began in unincorporated parts of Washoe County on Friday, August 4.

Kanna Reno, a dispensary in Sun Valley opened their doors Friday afternoon. Workers told us that even though the were not able to open up as early as shops in Reno and Sparks, they had plenty of time to prepare for the rush of customers and will not run out of stock anytime soon.

"It was surprising, honestly just coming from California," said Daniel Norman, Kanna's first customer. "I went to a lot of different ones, but coming here, everyone's like 'Oh you're the first one!' so I was like, 'Cool'."

Our reporter Jaime Hayes is in Lake Tahoe for NuLeaf's grand opening, and will have a full report tonight on Channel 2 News at 5:00 p.m.
