RENO, Nev. – Former Nevada women’s basketball guard Stephanie Schmid has signed a professional contract with the Portlaoise Panthers of the Superleague, the top women’s league in Ireland.

In two seasons with the Wolf Pack, Schmid totaled over 700 points, averaging 11.8 points per game. The Illinois native started in all 60 games in which she appeared and led the Pack in scoring her senior season. Her 126 made three pointers is the eighth-most in Wolf Pack women’s basketball history and her three-point shooting percentage of 33.5 percent ranks sixth all-time.

For the 2016-17 campaign, Schmid earned an All-Mountain West honorable mention. During that season she shot 41.0 percent from beyond the arc, which ranked in the top 30 nationally. Her 64 made three pointers were the second-most in the Mountain West. During the Pack's final home game of the 2016-17 season against San Jose State, Schmid poured in a career-high 32 points and tied the school record with eight three-pointers made.

Schmid will travel to Ireland to begin her professional career later this summer.
