NDOT Announces Lane Closures on I-80 in Sparks and U.S. 395 in Gardnerville

Posted: Updated:

One lane of eastbound Interstate 80 will be reduced between the spaghetti bowl and Rock Boulevard this Tuesday through Thursday as the Nevada Department of Transportation clears roadside drainages.

The eastbound I-80 fast lane will be closed between the spaghetti bowl and Rock Boulevard from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Tuesday, July 18 through Thursday, July 20 as NDOT removes dirt and debris from approximately 1,200 feet of roadside drainage pipes. Drivers should anticipate minor travel delays and reduced speed limits of 55 mph through the work zone.

Single lane closures will also be in place on northbound U.S. 395 in Gardnerville Wednesday, July 19 as the Nevada Department of Transportation makes repairs to a roadway depression.

This Wednesday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., single lane closures will be in place on northbound U.S. 395 near Gilman Avenue as NDOT grinds and repaves the approximately three-inch roadway dip to create a smoother and safer driving surface.

Subsequent repairs may be needed in the future to fully smooth the nearby roadway and curb and gutter.

With the area finally seeing some more winter weather this week, REMSA officials are reminding people to be prepared for anything, during the colder temperatures. So far this winter, REMSA has only responded to about five calls regarding hypothermia and frostbite. Fortunately, that number is down from around 19 this same time last year. But, officials say that is no reason to be lax about winter weather preparedness.
