The BLM says the Oil Well Fire in Elko County that burned approximately 7,400 acres and is now 100% contained.

The BLM says 16 cars were destroyed along with seven homes.

The Elko County Sheriff's Office says voluntary evacuations were lifted on Monday night.

FEMA previously authorized the use of federal funds to help the state fight the Oil Well Fire.

At the time of Monday's request, the fire was threatening 500 homes near the communities of White Rock and Osino. Because of that, FEMA's regional director determined that the fire could cause a major disaster.

I-80 was closed from Elko to Wells, Nevada but it has reopened according to Nevada Department of Transportation.

The cause remains under investigation.

Nevada Senator Dean Heller released this statement:

“Fires across Northern Nevada have shut down highways, threatened homes and property, and put lives at risk. These are our family members, friends, and our neighbors. I am praying for every Nevadan whose life and property are at risk and I'm grateful for our emergency responders who have worked tirelessly to contain these fires and mitigate damage,” said Heller. “I welcome this important assistance from FEMA and will continue to monitor developments and work with the state and local officials to ensure that Nevada communities have the resources they need to rebuild.”
