A minimum security inmate who walked away from a fire camp last week has been recaptured.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says 27 year-old Jordan Shane Redger was fighting the Tabor Flats fire burning near Elko when he walked away from camp on Wednesday. The camp is near I-80 at the Deeth exit between Wells and Elko.

NDOC says he was located at a house in Ryndon on Friday.

He was booked into Elko County Jail for the retake warrant and will be returning to custody after arraignment.

The camp he escaped from is for minimum-security inmates who are scheduled to be released within two years.

Redger is serving approximately two years for Grand Larceny of a Motor Vehicle.

Inmates in the camps are trained to fight wildfires and are deployed to handle weed abatement, highway cleanup and other jobs.
