Krepsz Named to Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List

Posted: Updated:

Nevada junior center Sean Krepsz has been named to the 2017 Rimington Trophy Fall Watch List, the award’s committee announced Tuesday. The Rimington Trophy is presented annually to the most outstanding center in FBS college football.

A 6'5" tall, 320-pound returning starter, Krepsz is one of 73 players in the nation to be named to the preseason watch list. Krepsz is also one of seven players from the Mountain West to receive the preseason recognition.

Krepsz, who is sliding over to the center position in 2017, appeared in all 12 games last season and made 10 starts during his first campaign with the Wolf Pack. A transfer from Riverside Community College, he helped block for a 1,000-yard rusher in All-Mountain West honorable mention James Butler. Krepsz aided in Nevada compiling a rushing offense that ranked third in the West Division at 174.0 yards per game.

Nevada opens the 2017 season under first-year head coach Jay Norvell on Saturday, Sept. 2, when it travels to Evanston, Ill. to play at Northwestern with a kickoff time still to be determined.

The 2017 Rimington Trophy winner will be recognized at the Rimington Trophy Presentation on Jan. 13, 2018 in Lincoln, Neb. The Rimington Trophy is a member of the National College Football Awards Association (NCFAA), which encompasses the most prestigious awards in college football. Since its inception, the Rimington Trophy has raised over $2.9 million for the cystic fibrosis community. The award is overseen by the Boomer Esiason Foundation, which is committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis and has raised over $130 million for the fight against cystic fibrosis.
