Pedestrian Improvements Coming to North Virginia Street, Construction Begins Monday

Posted: Updated:

The Nevada Department of Transportation to make improvements to sidewalks on North Virginia Street near the Bonanza Casino starting Monday, July 10.

NDOT says there will be occasional lane, roadway shoulder and sidewalk closures on North Virginia Street through the fall, but there will always be one travel lane open in each direction. The closures will be both day and night, but mostly during weekday, off-peak travel hours.

The project will install sidewalks and make other pedestrian enhancements on North Virginia Street between the Bonanza Casino and Hoge Road. Improvements will include consolidating parking lot driveways to provide safer, designated turns between North Virginia Street and the Bonanza Casino.

A separate project that NDOT will be working on is installing electronic flashing pedestrian crossing beacons, overhead street lighting and other safety enhancements on North Virginia Street at Talus and Moraine ways.

Project information is available at nevadadot.com or by dialing (775) 888-7000.
