Kayaker Missing in South Lake Tahoe

Updated:

Update: The Eldorado County Sheriff's Office with help from a non-profit group called Bruce's Legacy was  able to find and recover the body of Dan Pham

On August 26, 2017 Bruce's Legacy used a tow fish sonar to locate the body of Dan where an Eldorado County Sheriff's K9 also alerted.

Mr. Pham was located in 245 feet of water off of Rubicon Point. Bruce's Legacy used an ROV to recover Pham's body and bring it to the surface so the Eldorado County Sheriff's Office along with the South Lake Tahoe Detectives can begin the investigation.

A kayaker is missing from South Lake Tahoe.

Pham Du Van Than (Dan) called a friend at 9:15 Thursday morning to tell him he was going kayaking and camping in the Lester Beach area. As of 6:15 that evening Dan hadn't been heard from so a search began.

The El Dorado County Sheriff's Office ended their search at midnight and began again at 6:00 a.m. Friday morning.

Dan is described as a Filipino man, 5'7", 150 lbs with a muscular build. He has short dark hair and multiple tattoos on his shoulder and chest.

Dan was in a forest green kayak, 10 feet long. It isn't known if he had a backpack or a life jacket.

If you know anything about Dan's whereabouts or see someone matching this description please call 9-1-1 or 530-621-6600.
