The Washoe County District Attorney’s Office says a Reno man faces up to ten years in prison after being found guilty of beating a man with a dumbbell.

33-year-old Rafael Arellano found guilty earlier this month on one count of Domestic Battery with Use of a Deadly Weapon after a two day jury trial in Washoe County District Court.

Authorities say he hit his mother’s longtime boyfriend in the head with a dumbbell after an argument in January.

The victim was taken to the hospital where doctors stapled and stitched his head.

Sentencing is set for June 1, 2017.
