From Reno Aces:

Des Moines, IA. – The Iowa Cubs defeated the Reno Aces Wednesday afternoon from Principal Park by a score of 5-0. The Aces offense was held in check by a number of Iowa hurlers. Reno notched just five hits in the ballgame, falling to 1-12 when scoring less than three runs. Left-hander Eric Jokisch got the nod for the Aces on the mound, finishing with six innings, eight hits and four earned runs.

The I-Cubs got into the scoring column in the bottom of the first inning. A leadoff double by John Andreoli, followed by a Stephen Bruno groundout and a Mark Zagunis sacrifice fly to right field put the Cubbies up 1-0. Iowa would score again in the third, and twice more in the bottom of the sixth.

Aces outfielder Oswaldo Arcia finished the day 1-for-3 with a double and a walk. Arcia was the lone player to record an extra-base hit. Defensively, Matt Stites and Silvino Bracho added two innings of relief work for the visiting squad. Bracho recently transferred from Arizona, tossed a perfect 1-2-3 inning – finishing with two strikeouts. Bracho has played in three games with the D-backs in 2017, recording five strikeouts in 2.1 innings.

The loss brings the Aces to a record of 28-19 in 2017. Right-hander Frank Duncan (2-4 will get the start tomorrow at Principal Park. The Aces return to Greater Nevada Field on Saturday and will be joined by internet sensation Carter Wilkerson #NuggsForCarter, who will throw out the ceremonial first pitch.
