Sparks Police Seek Man in Vehicle Pursuit, Armed and Extremely Dangerous

Posted: Updated:

Sparks Police are looking for a man involved in a car chase early Saturday morning. They say he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

According to Sparks Police, officers conducted a traffic stop in the 1400 block of Victorian Avenue around 1:20 a.m.

The vehicle was suspected of having fictitious registration. The driver, who was later identified as Robert Ramsey, gave a false name to officers and refused to cooperate during the investigation.

Police say throughout Ramsey's contact with officers, he challenged them and refused to follow instructions. Shortly thereafter Ramsey sped away from the traffic stop fleeing from officers.

Officers pursued Ramsey onto the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80. Ramsey continued to ignore traffic laws and drove at a high rate of speed. Ramsey eventually reached the vicinity of the Patrick exit on I-80 before the pursuit was terminated out of concern for public safety.

During the course of the investigation it was determined that Ramsey contacted associates and made several statements including that he was armed with a gun and willing to engage officers.

Ramsey is considered to be armed and extremely dangerous. In addition to local charges for eluding, he is currently is wanted by the State of California for a pair of felony warrants related to the violation of his parole.

The Sparks Police Department is asking that anyone with information regarding Ramsey's whereabouts call the Sparks Police Department at 775-353-2231 or Secret Witness at 775-322-4900.

Secret Witness is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and prosecution of Ramsey.
