Veterans Ride to Fernley to Raise Awareness

Posted: Updated:

Dozens of motorcycle riders made a special visit to Fernley on Wednesday to the veterans cemetery to honor fallen veterans.
The riders are part of the National Veterans Awareness Organization.
Every May, they ride from Sacramento to Washington, D.C. to meet with fellow veterans and participate in local memorials.
Organizers say Fernley is a special place.

"Every time we get here, it’s a little bit greener, a little bit nicer, in the middle of Nevada, they’ve carved out a wonderful place,” Jerry Connor, President, National Veterans Awareness Organization.

Connor says he expects to pick up more riders on his trip.
He says the goal is to help raise awareness for veteran's issues.
