Posted: Updated:

The University of Nevada (17-32, 11-15 MW) baseball team was unable to complete the Mountain West series sweep of intrastate rival UNLV (19-34, 9-18 MW) falling 9-1 before 893 fans on senior day at Peccole Park Sunday afternoon.  The Wolf Pack won 4-3 on Friday and 4-1 on Saturday to win the series but came up short of the team’s first series sweep of the season.  The weekend series was also part of the Governor’s Series presented by NV Energy and Barrick Gold.

Nevada is now 17-32 on the season and 11-15 in MW play while the Rebels improved to 19-34 and 9-18 in conference play.  The Pack hosts UC Davis (17-26) in the final home game of the season on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

After two scoreless innings UNLV sent 10 hitters to the plate in the top of the third inning and six scored.  The Wolf Pack never recovered from the big inning in the loss.  The Rebels scored a single run in the fourth and added two in the seventh to make the final score 9-1.

The Pack got a leadoff double in the bottom of the fourth from Jordan Pearce and he scored on Grant Fennell’s single to account for Nevada’s run in the game.

Freshman Riley Ohl (3-3) suffered the loss allowing six runs, five earned in 2.2 innings of work.  UNLV starter Paul Richy (4-3) got the win tossing a complete game.

Justin Bridgman (2-for-4) and Pearce (2-for-4,R) led the Pack with two hits each.  The Rebels Nick Ames (2-for-4,R,4RBI) tallied two hits and drove in four.

Notes:

Freshman Dillan Shrum has reached base in the last 28 games.

Senior pitcher Evan McMahan made his 88 career appearance which is two off the school record.
