From Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County:

Starting Wednesday, April 26th, traffic will be shifted to a new pattern on Pyramid Way in the area of McCarran Boulevard. Northbound traffic on Pyramid will be shifted to new pavement so that crews may reconstruct the center area of the roadway.

Additionally, Emerson Way will be closed to left turns from Pyramid Way. Nearby residents should take Wedekind Road as an alternative. Traffic on McCarran Boulevard will remain in the current configuration.

Drivers should anticipate delays, particularly during peak commute hours.

This work is part of an overall project to enhance safety and mobility at the intersection of Pyramid Way and McCarran Boulevard. This $72 million project is on-schedule and slated for completion in about a year. When finished, a new through lane will be added to Pyramid in each direction and dedicated turning lanes will be added to both Pyramid and McCarran. The project also includes: decorative walls, new landscaping and a paved multi-use path that’s ideal for bicyclists and pedestrians. This project will also contribute to cleaner air by reducing idling vehicles and easing congestion.

Businesses in the area remain open and accessible throughout construction.
