NHP Identifies Driver in Fatal Crash on Highway 395 Near Gardnerville

Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers have identified the driver killed after a crash on Highway 395 and Ray May Way south of Gardnerville on Monday morning.

Troopers say 53-year-old Christopher Errol Oakden of Minden was driving a Cadillac STS sedan north on Highway 395 when he veered into the path of a Freightliner semi-truck heading south. 

Oakden died on scene after the head-on collision, which happened just before 9:30 a.m.

Troopers say both drivers were wearing their seatbelts. 

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Doug Hildebrand of the Multi-disciplinary Investigation and Reconstruction Team (M.I.R.T.) is investigating this crash.
