Nevada Baseball's Win Streak Snapped at 4

Posted: Updated:

Nevada’s (13-26, 9-12) season-high four-game win streak was snapped on Sunday after a 27-5 loss to Fresno State (19-20, 9-9 MW) before a season best 1,121 fans at Peccole Park.  The Wolf Pack won the Mountain West series after taking the first two games, 5-4 Friday and 7-3 on Saturday.

The Pack is now 13-26 on the season and 9-12 in MW play while the Bulldogs are 19-20 and 9-9 in conference play.

Nevada returns to action next weekend with a three-game MW series at Air Force (19-20, 8-13 MW).  First pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m. PT with Saturday and Sunday’s games set for 12 p.m. PT.  The Falcons are coming off a three-game conference sweep at San Jose State.

FS scored early and often in Sunday’s victory to snap a three-game losing skid.  The Bulldogs scored in the final seven innings to total 27 runs on 25 hits.

Nevada got solo home runs from Cole Krzmarzick (2-for-3,2R,RBI) and Michael Echavia (2-for-3, 3RB).  Echavia now tops the team with five home runs and Krzmarzick has belted a career-high three this season.  Echavia finished with three RBI after driving home two with a double in the fourth inning.  The three RBI tied his season high.  Junior third baseman Jordan Pearce extended his reach base streak to 26 games after a single in the sixth.

Grant Ford (3-4) was tagged with the loss after allowing six runs in 3.2 innings on the mound.  The Pack used eight pitchers in the game.  Ricky Tyler Thomas (3-3) earned the win surrendering four runs in six innings on the mound.
