Free RTC Rides During 'Food for Fare' for Friday

Posted: Updated:

From the Regional Transportation Commission:

The RTC is partnering with the Food Bank of Northern Nevada for the 24th annual Food for Fare on Friday, Dec. 9. Instead of paying a fare, transit riders may instead pay their fare with a donation of a non-expired, non-perishable food item. The donations support the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.

“The Food Bank of Northern Nevada is providing assistance to 95,000 people each month, but we can’t do it without the community’s help and thank the RTC and its riders for their generosity during the holiday season,” Jocelyn Lantrip, Director Marketing and Communications for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada, said. “This is one of the largest and most import food drives of the year,” she added.

Those not riding the bus may also contribute to the drive by simply handing a donation to any coach operator at a bus stop on Dec. 9.
