$40,000 Donated for 2016 'Shop With The Sheriff' Event

Posted: Updated:

Washoe County Sheriff Chuck Allen, alongside Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus, presented a $40,000 check to the south Reno Walmart Tuesday, to fund this year's 'Shop With The Sheriff' Event.

The money was raised by the Honorary Deputy Sheriff's Association and will give 200 underprivileged children the chance to go on a shopping spree for the holidays.

Sheriff Allen says the best part of the event is seeing the children getting into the giving spirit.

"Most of the children that participate in this event, really never think about what they're going to buy for themselves,” said Sheriff Chuck Allen,  “they're thinking about their siblings, their parents, and others, who want to make their Christmas better."

The ‘Shop With The Sheriff' event will take place Tuesday, December 6th.
