Donating Tips to Help Medflight Crash Victims

Posted: Updated:

This Small Business Saturday you can help a local business help the victims of an American Medflight crash in Elko last week.

The owner of Rounds Bakery, Anton Novak, says his employees will be donating all the tips they make Saturday to the victims of the crash and he will be matching the amount up to $10,000. He even offered to buy a cup of coffee for someone if they don't want to buy any food, as long as the free coffee comes with a tip.

"We can do so much more when we have the community involved," says Novak, "When we have our employees involved, and the owners. I can only give so much, right?"

Novak says he learned about the crash from a text message and didn't want to believe it. He met the three crew members killed in the crash last year during training.

"You meet them once and it was... it was... it wasn't who's this new guy, it was like 'Oh you're gonna love it here!'" says Novak, "You know, and I was immediately embraced."

On Monday, we found out that customers tipped about $1,000, so Rounds will match, and round up, the donations to $2,100.
