Posted: Updated:

Authorities say detectives have received a significant break in a 1992 homicide case, but they say the public’s assistance is still needed.

Recently, a forensic sketch artist created a likeness of the victim in the case. The victim’s remains were found one mile east of Highway 338, south of Wellington.

The Division of Public Safety says an anonymous phone call was made to the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office alerting deputies to unidentified human remains off of Sand Canyon Road near Wellington in March 1992.

The identity of the victim remains unknown. The victim is described as white, approximately 35-50 years of age, with reddish hair and approximately 6’ to 6’4” in height.

If you have any information that can help authorities, call Detective Mike Marty at 775-684-7439 or via email at mmarty@dps.state.nv.us .
