Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers say one woman died after a crash on Highway 50, near the Douglas County line Sunday afternoon.

Troopers say a preliminary crash investigation indicates that a gray Nissan Altima driven by 72-year-old Jiann-Juh Tseng, a Taiwanese visiting the U.S. on vacation, was traveling westbound on US50 approaching Douglas County mile marker 6 in the slow lane. They say the Nissan went over the white fog line on the right side of the highway and through the paved shoulder. The vehicle went off the roadway and hit a tree.

Inside the vehicle with Tseng was his daughter in the right front and his wife Pao-Yi Tseng in the right rear of the Nissan.

Authorities say Tseng’s wife was transported to the Barton Memorial Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Tseng’s daughter was also taken to Barton Memorial Hospital where she was treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Troopers say impairment is not suspected.  They say Jiann-Juh was wearing his seatbelt, the other two passengers seatbelt usage is unknown at this time.

Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Garretson is investigating this crash. Anyone who may have witnessed this incident or who may have information related to this incident is encouraged to reach out to her at (775) 688-2500 or kgarretson@dps.state.nv.us regarding case number NHP-161001522.
