Coral Academy of Science Student Creates Apps

Posted: Updated:

There is a lot of different apps available, close to 4.2 million in the Apple and Android stores combined. But how do you make one? There is a Coral Academy of Science student that is teaching others to create and maybe even make a little money with apps.

8th grader, Vedant Maohotra saw a problem.

"My computer will start slowing down, same thing happens with phones and i-Pads and I was sick of that," said Maohotra.

Instead of getting frustrated like most would for being mildly inconvenienced at the slow pace of a device, he created a solution.

"It'll solve the issues and you only have your 3 main tabs."

His app is called "3 tabs." It's a web browser that only allows three tabs instead of several, which can slow down your device. Vedant is a self-taught app-wiz and learned how to build apps from the ground up by following other creators on YouTube.

"I like the YouTube app because I actually have my own channel and I like to make videos."

He watches YouTube tutorials and Googles his way to answers to code and create. He is now teaching others.

"I have 70 subscribers right now. It is slowly growing."

Sure, he has a small following now, but most have searched for a "how to" or "DIY" video on YouTube. Vedant says if he did it, others will too.

It takes a lot of time and patience. If you don't have patience it's going to be very hard."

As "3 tab"s is out to save time, his next app in the works is out to save lives.

"I'm working on a app for driver safety. Especially younger drivers. This app will limit them from using their phones while driving."

He wants his apps to be important to people's every day lives and even as  an 8th grader, he is "app-solutely" sure he can do it.

"You can create anything...Almost everybody has a phone so you can reach millions of people."
