Posted: Updated:

Freshman Brooke Bolinger posted a complete game victory for the second-consecutive day and sophomore Jennifer Purcell continued her hot hitting in a split of Saturday action at the Grizzly Classic.

Purcell went 6-for-6 with three doubles, a home run and six RBI on Saturday for the Wolf Pack (17-5). She has now recorded a hit in nine-consecutive at-bats with the NCAA being 13-straight. Senior Jasmine Jenkins chipped in with three hits and sophomore Aaliyah Gibson tallied two hits and three RBI.

Game One Recap: Nevada 10, Omaha 2 (6)

For the second-straight game the Wolf Pack got on the board first. In the top of the bottom of the second, Purcell led-off the inning with a double down the left field line. After she moved to third on sacrifice bunt by sophomore Amanda Nicholas, Purcell scored on an error with two outs to give Nevada a 1-0 lead.

With runners on first and second and two outs, it was Purcell who again delivered, this time it was a three-run home run to deep center field that extended the Wolf Pack lead 4-0. After Bolinger blanked the Mavericks in the fourth, they got on the board in the fifth on an unearned run.

With the score at 4-1, Nevada responded with a big inning in the home half of the fifth. Sweet led-off the inning with a solo home run and was followed with back-to-back single from Jenkins and junior Melissa Arriaga. Purcell then drove Jenkins home with her second double of the day to left center that made it 6-1. After the double, Nicholas sent an RBI single up the middle before Purcell scored on a sacrifice fly from Gibson to extend the Nevada advantage to 8-1.

The Mavs responded with a run in the sixth that made it 8-2 but the Pack ended the game with another RBI double from Purcell and an RBI single from Nicholas to give Nevada a 10-2 win.

Game Two Recap: Montana 6, Nevada 5

The Grizzlies jumped out on top with a three-run home run in the first inning but the Pack responded with two in the top of the second. With two outs, Gibson rocketed a double to the wall that scored Purcell and Arriaga to cut the Pack’s deficit to one, 3-2.

Junior McKenna Isenberg blanked the Griz in the second third and fourth before Montana tacked on two more runs in the fifth that extended their lead to 5-2.

The Pack responded in the top of sixth where an RBI double to the right center field gap off the bat of Jenkins scored Sweet from first base. After Jenkins advanced to third, Purcell slapped a ball through the right side that again got Nevada within one again, 5-4.

After Montana tacked on another run in the bottom of the sixth, freshman Kwynn Warner led-off the top of the seventh with her second home run of the season that made the score 6-5 in favor of the Grizzlies. Despite a Jenkins single with two outs, the Pack could not muster another run to tie the game.

Nevada will conclude the Grizzly Classic Sunday against Omaha at 9:30 a.m. and Montana at 11:45 a.m.
