Senior Krysta Palmer has been named Mountain West Diver of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday morning. Palmer remained unbeaten on the season after winning the 1 and 3-meter dive in Nevada’s dual victory over Boise State last Saturday at Lombardi Pool.
Palmer won the 3-meter dive with a score of 349.05 points, which bested her previous league-leading score and was her second-best score on the event in her career. Palmer also won the 1-meter dive with 322.28 points, which ranks second in the MW this season only to her own dive.
Palmer’s efforts helped No. 33 Nevada remain undefeated on the season while posting its first dual win over Boise State since Jan. 12, 2007. The Wolf Pack is 7-0 after the fall season following a victory at the five-time Pacific Invitational and dual victories over UC Davis, Fresno State and Boise State.
Palmer – the reigning MW Diver of the Year – has won all six diving events she has competed in this season. Palmer has won 17 consecutive regular season diving events, a streak that dates back to her sophomore season. Both of Palmer’s dives this weekend were NCAA Zone Qualifying dives.
This is the Carson City natives’ second MW Diver of the Week honor this season and the seventh of her career.
Nevada returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 23 with a dual at San Jose State.
