In the fitness world, they say abs are made in the kitchen. However, instead of just eating clean at home, three health conscious entrepreneurs decided to cook up a business to benefit every body. Nestled near Caughlin Ranch is the new home away from home for a restaurateur, a corporate manager and a nurse. BFF’s Jen Boscovich, Gwen Sedler and Joel Giandalia have partnered up to “Create things that I couldn't go anywhere else to get,” explains Gwen. Jen adds, “To have fun meals on a menu that are nutritionally balanced." "We want to eat well and take care of ourselves,” echoes Joel. That is how Be Fit Foods was born. Home of the zucchini noodle (or zoodle) bowls, the cauliflower-crusted pizza and a creamy cocoa cashew milk freezie. The trio is on a mission to prove clean eating does not mean forgoing flavor.
Gwen and Jen know a thing or two about getting creative with their cuisine. They have spent a combined 11 years training for fitness competitions. The nutrition coaches have long studied what it takes to properly fuel your body. “We look at macros, so your calories, your protein, your carbs and your fats." They have spent hours in the kitchen - playing with their food - to make mainstream meals healthy. “So yes, you can have pizza and it can be clean." Gwen says, “There's no hidden fat, no hidden calories that you have to worry about." However, weighing all those factors takes time. So the athletes are serving up convenience, too. “We want everyone to be able to spend more time doing what they love."
Gwen and Jen teamed up with Joel, the owner of SoDo who recognized, with his 35-years of restaurant experience, that there's a real craving for this concept in Northern Nevada. He says you can dine-in, take-out and even order meals online to stock your fridge with fuel. “Our fuel packs, which are partially-cooked items that you take and finish the cooking process; whether that be microwave or oven." So whether you are training for a fitness goal, trying to lose weight or just want to feed your family something quick, but nutritious, these entrepreneurs - with a healthy appetite for success – want BFF Café to be your body's best friend.
The Grand Opening is scheduled for Tuesday, November 10th at 5 p.m. To get a sneak peek at the menu - and even order meals online – log onto www.bffcafe.com.
