Nevada Soccer Loses on the Road
The Nevada soccer team dropped a 1-0 decision to Fresno State Friday night in Mountain West play.
The Wolf Pack (6-9-2, 3-5-1 MW) and Bulldogs (5-10-1, 4-4-1 MW) played a back and forth opening half to begin tonight’s match. The two teams posted 12 shots between the both of them, with Fresno State edging the Pack by a 7-5 margin.
A goal by the Bulldogs shortly into the start of the second half proved to be the difference maker in the match. In the 51st minute, Fresno State’s Myra Delgadillo took a pass from Alyssa Holsworth and sent her shot past Nevada goalkeeper Kelsey Quintos to put her team ahead.
The Fresno State offense took over in the second half, getting the goal and putting up 15 shots total in the half. The Bulldogs kept the Pack defense and Quintos busy as the junior had to make four stops in the period.
With tonight’s one-goal match, seven of Nevada’s nine losses this season have been decided by one goal.
Nevada remains on the road and will play at San Jose State this Sunday at noon.
