Mt. Rose Renovations Near Completion

"Yeah, we've had a very busy summer preparing for another big year," said Mike Pierce with Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe. Those preparations and renovations come with a price tag  of $1.2 million. 

Last week, crews actually lifted the old Ponderosa lift, shifted it about 30 degrees to the northwest, and changed the name to the 'Wizard' lift. It provides access to four new beginner terrain areas. They also built the new lift with the future in mind. 
 
"We do expect approval to expand across the highway here shortly," he said. "This lift actually provides access  into going into the old terrain across the highway."

The resort also installed 9 new fixed snow blowers, bringing their total snow making fleet to 25.  

Mt. Rose says the snow making system they have in place is very drought-friendly. 
 
"It's called non-consumptive use," he said. "When you make snow, the bulk of it goes right back into the ground water system." >

Crews are also redoing the check in area for the Rosebud children ski and board program. 

Mt. Rose plans on opening limited terrain on October 29th.
