TMWA: 10.5% Saved in June

Posted: Updated:

Truckee Meadows Water Authority says its customers stayed on track for saving water last month.

TMWA says the recent rains and voluntary cutbacks saved 10.5% in June compared with the same month in 2013, the last year before voluntary cutbacks were implemented.

Combined with May, that brings to total savings to about 800 million gallons or 2,500 acre feet halfway to TMWA's goal for the summer.

“We are definitely on-track, our water customers are doing their part and we are well on our way to achieving our 2015 target goal of saving 5,000 acre-feet,” explained Bill Hauck, TMWA’s senior hydrologist. “This is great news, because every gallon we save is water in the bank that we can keep upstream for later use, should we need it.”
