Sophomore Nikki Orozco's walk-off single up the middle that scored senior Molly McWilliams from second base gave the Nevada softball team a 3-2 win over Colorado State in extra innings on Friday afternoon.

Senior Megan Dortch earned the win for the Wolf Pack (16-36, 6-17 MW) after tossing a complete game with six strikeouts. Orozco went 2-for-2 and accounted for two of the Pack's three runs and freshman Jennifer Purcell went 2-for-4 with a run scored and two unassisted double plays.

After the Rams pushed two runs across in their first two trips to the plate, the Pack got a run back in the bottom of the second. After a single from Purcell, a walk from Orozco and another single from senior Ashley Butera that loaded the bases, freshman Alyssa Mendez grounded a ball back to the pitcher who recorded the out at home but the catcher threw the ball wide to the first baseman that allowed Butera to score from second base and cut the Pack deficit to one, 2-1.

In the bottom of the fourth, Purcell tallied her second hit of the afternoon on a lead-off single and then scored from first on an RBI double from Orozco that tied the score at 2-2.

After Dortch got through the fifth, the Rams put a runner on in the top of the sixth but she was doubled-off at first base on an unassisted double play from Purcell. In the seventh, Purcell recorded another unassisted double play that ended CSU threat and sent the game into extra innings.

The Rams threatened again in the top of the eighth after putting runners on first and second with no one out. From there, Dortch tallied her sixth strikeout, induced a fly out to center field and a groundout to Purcell that ended the inning.

With two outs, McWilliams roped a ball to the right field wall and took two for her seventh double of the season. On the first pitch to Orozco, the Corona, Calif. native sent a ball up the middle that scored McWilliams from second to give the Wolf Pack a walk-off.

Nevada's win sets the stage for Senior Day tomorrow at 11 a.m. The Senior Day ceremony will begin at approximately 10:45 a.m.
