After leading the University of Nevada baseball team to its first 7-0 start in program history, senior first basemen Austin Byler has been named Mountain West Player of the Week. The Peoria, Ariz., native has earned four MW weekly honors in his career.

Byler was awarded for his efforts in Nevada's upset over fifth-ranked Texas Tech and its MW opening sweep of Fresno State. During that time, Byler posted a .400 batting average with two home runs, four RBI and seven runs scored.

In Nevada's upset of the Red Raiders, Byler went 2-of-4 at the plate with a home run, RBI and two runs scored. Byler then lifted Nevada past the Bulldogs on Friday with a walk-off 10-th inning home run. On the series against Fresno State, Byler was walked seven times with three hit by pitches and posted a .733 on-base percentage.

On the season, Byler leads the MW in home runs (4), slugging percentage (.909) and on-base percentage (.583), while batting for .318 overall.

Byler and the Wolf Pack return to action Tuesday for a mid-week game against the Pac-12's Stanford Cardinal. Action will get underway at 5:30 p.m. PT from Sunken Diamond in Stanford, Calif.
