Bill Would Let Nevada Bar, Saloon Owners Allow Dogs Inside

Posted: Updated:
A bill up for debate in the Nevada Legislature would let bar owners to allow dogs in their businesses without interference from the government.

The Senate Government Affairs Committee is scheduled to review SB105 on Monday afternoon. It's sponsored by Minden Republican Sen. James Settelmeyer.

The measure would allow people who own a stand-alone bar, tavern or saloon to let dogs inside. It bars the state and local government or any other agency to adopt a law that would conflict with the permission.

Existing law gives state and local health boards the ability to make rules for the places where food is prepared and sold, and gives local councils and county commissions the authority to regulate businesses, including bars.  (AP)
