The Washoe County Health District says it has ruled out measles for an adult possibly infected with the disease. Lab results for the other five cases have yet to come back.

To help speed up the process, health officials say they will get new blood samples and send them to the CDC in Atlanta.

Washoe County hasn't seen a case of measles since 1990.

Test results also have not come back for the case in Churchill County.

Measles is a highly contagious respiratory illness that can spread through coughing or sneezing. Authorities say people who might have been exposed should monitor themselves for 21 days for symptoms including fever, cough, runny nose and a blotchy rash.
