Hazard Cottonwood Trees Slated to be Removed at Fuji Park

Posted: Updated:
Two large cottonwood trees will soon be removed from Fuji Park in Carson City.

These trees have been identified as hazard trees by City staff due to several instances of large falling limbs, the most recent one severely damaging a vendor's tent during the Nevada 150 Fair this past summer. Both trees have been inspected by a contract arborist and deemed a potential safety hazard to park users if allowed to remain.

The largest tree is a prominent older cottonwood in the grass area near the center of the park, and the other tree to be removed is in the undeveloped area to the west near the dog park.

New trees will be planted in the park this coming spring to replace the loss of the two larger trees.
