A season-high in turnovers proved costly for the University of Nevada women's basketball team, falling 65-43 at Fresno State Saturday afternoon in Mountain West action.

It was a rough opening 10 minutes for the Wolf Pack (6-8, 2-1 MW), committing 12 turnovers and finding itself trailing 23-6 with 9:15 to play in the first half. Nevada had been held off the scoreboard for nearly six minutes before a jumper by Teige Zeller gave the Pack its eighth point of the ballgame. From there, the Pack was able to chip away at the deficit, breaking the press and protecting the basketball better than it had in the early goings of the game.

It appeared as if Nevada would head into the locker room facing its largest halftime deficit of the season, down by 19 to the Bulldogs (12-3, 4-0 MW) with under a minute to play. With three seconds on the clock, Nevada inbounded the ball to its three-point specialist Ashlee Jones who heaved a half-court shot at the buzzer and banked it in, sending the Pack into halftime down by 14.

To start the second half, the Pack hung with the Bulldogs, trading points in the first few minutes. It was Fresno State, however, who took over from there, going on a 13-2 run over the next seven minutes to stretch its lead out even further. The Bulldogs continued to press in the backcourt for the remainder of the game, holding the Pack to its lowest point total of the season (43) and lowest points in a half (18).

In all, Nevada committed a season-high 33 turnovers, including 17 in the second half. Fresno State outworked the Pack on the boards as well with a 42-28 rebounding advantage. Nevada did outshoot its opposition by connecting on 42.2 percent of its shots, while the Bulldogs made an even 40 percent. Senior Mimi Mungedi led the Pack with 14 points and nine rebounds, her 10th game in double figures this season.

Jane Albright remains seven wins shy of reaching 500 career victories.

Nevada returns to Lawlor Events Center next Wednesday, Jan. 14 for a 6:30 p.m. Mountain West contest against visiting Colorado State.
