NV Energy Provides Smart Meter Documents to State Regulators

NV Energy has turned over more than 1,000 pages of documents to state regulators as part of a safety probe. The move comes in response to an official inquiry into the company's newly installed "smart meters."

Nevada's Public Utilities Commission is now looking into whether those meters could pose fire risks to more than a million homes and businesses in the state.

So far this winter, REMSA has only responded to about five calls regarding hypothermia and frostbite. Fortunately, that number is down from around 19 this same time last year. But, officials say that is no reason to be lax about winter weather preparedness.
