If you are looking for something uniquely Nevadan for Christmas this year, you are in luck. The Buy Local Movement is taking off in this area - and small shops like Napa-Sonoma have added sections of items made in the state.

"I call them Nevada Made," says Carol Raphel of Napa Sonoma, "because they are made here but there's a whole thing about the name Made in Nevada having to be registered with that particular group."

The include wine and boxes shaped like Nevada and filled with products all made in the Silver State. And she says they are selling well.

"We have people coming in just for Nevada items," she says.

The Flag Store in Sparks has had a section of officially Made in Nevada items for years.

"And this year I noticed that a lot of local companies are coming in and having Nevada Christmases meaning that within their companies they only give things actually made in the state which is cool," says Marty Smith who owns the Flag Store.

He also says all kinds of Nevada clothing has been hot this we celebrate the 150th anniversary of statehood.

And in the Reno Town Mall, the Buy Nevada First Gift Shop is open for business. It is 4,000 square feet of space filled with more that 250 vendors' wares.

"We have artwork and books, clothing and pottery, jewelry and inventions," says manager Dave Asher. "And since we sell on consignment everyone makes money. We just sent out a stack of checks to vendors here that was like two-feet tall. And all of that money is going right back into the local economy."

And if books are your thing, the Buy Nevada First Gift Shop is holding a local authors book signing and sale Sunday, December 14th from noon-3 p.m.
