Washoe County School District's newest trustee was sworn in on Tuesday.
Dr. Angie Taylor replaces Dave Aiazzi who stepped down from Seat E last month for health reasons.
Taylor has made history by being the first African-American trustee since the board started in 1965.
"What an honor, what a task, what a challenge. I think it's a call, I see it that way and so I'm excited about it for all of those in education who look like me who came before me, that opened doors that made a way, but I wouldn't be here without the support from a lot of people who don't look like me."
She says she plans to listen, learn and eventually lead the school district but helping re-establish trust between the board and the community.
