Washoe County Registrar's Office Receives Request for Recount

Posted: Updated:
From Washoe County:

Lisa Krasner has informed the Washoe County Registrar's Office she wants a recount of her race for Assembly District 26, in which she ran against Randy Kirner.

Lisa Krasner selected five percent of the precincts in her district that she wants recounted and has submitted that information along with her demand.

According to Nevada law, the Registrar's Office has five days to initiate the recount and the process must be completed within five days after it has begun. The recount process is tentatively scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 20.

If, after the sample is reviewed, there is a discrepancy of one percent or five votes, whichever is greater, the Registrar of Voters will determine if the candidate is entitled to a full recount of all ballots.

Neither the Registrar's Office nor the Board of County Commissioners can call for a recount. According to Nevada Law, the recount has to be requested by a candidate.

For more information regarding the recount process and canvassing of the vote, refer to NRS 293.403 and NAC 293.365.
