A section of U.S. Highway 50 in El Dorado County is scheduled to be closed overnight over the next two weeks as part of ongoing construction of the county's Silva Valley Interchange Project.

The $57 million project in El Dorado Hills will construct a new overcrossing over Highway 50, new on- and off-ramps with signalized intersections, and new bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

All westbound Highway 50 lanes from Bass Lake Road to El Dorado Hills Boulevard are scheduled to be closed from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday through Friday, Sept. 8-12. The westbound Bass Lake Road on-ramp will close an hour earlier and also reopen at 5 a.m. The following week, Sept. 15-19, the closure will shift to the eastbound lanes, again 11 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the Latrobe Road on-ramp closing at 10 p.m.

The closures are required for contractor Myers and Sons Construction to install falsework at the overcrossing.

During the closures, traffic will be detoured 6.5 miles via El Dorado Hills Boulevard, Serrano Parkway and Bass Lake Road (see attached detour map). Motorists should plan for an additional 10 minutes travel time and use alternate routes if possible. Portable message signs will be used to keep motorists informed of the closures.
