Sparks Police Arrest Teen in Deadly Stabbing Case

Sparks Police have arrested a 15-year-old boy in connection with a fatal stabbing that happened Monday night in the 400 block of 11th Street.

According to police, around 9 p.m. officers found a man seriously injured from a stab wound, but was later pronounced dead at the hospital. They say witnesses at the scene tell them the victim was confronted by two male, Hispanic juveniles. They say a fight broke out and the man was stabbed. They say the two juveniles fled the area on foot.

Police say the victim was stabbed once in the chest. The family has identified him as Brian Marshall. The family has set up an account at Wells Fargo under the name ‘Marshall Family Fund.'

Police have since arrested 15-year-old Carlos Montoya. He was booked into the Washoe County Jail on one charge of open murder.

The stabbing is not believed to be gang-related and there is no known motive for the stabbing at this time.
