Reno Police Shoot Robbery Suspect

Posted: Updated:

Multiple agencies are investigating after an armed robbery suspect was shot and killed by police in front of a Reno casino Sunday evening.

The shooting happened shortly after 5 p.m. on South Virginia Street, between Hubbard and Gentry Way.

Reno police were first called to a CVS Pharmacy on Plumb Lane, where they discovered a patron had been shot by an armed robber.

The victim was taken to the hospital in unknown condition.

The suspect fled officers in a vehicle, leading police on a pursuit on Wrondel Way and Topaz Drive.

Police say multiple shots were fired during the chase, which continued onto Virginia Street, where police exchanged fire with the suspect.

The suspect was injured and taken to Renown, where he was declared deceased.

No officers were injured during the incident, but those involved have been placed on routine administrative leave.

Because the incident involved members of the Reno Police Department, the Washoe County Sheriff's Office has taken over the investigation.

They are asking any witnesses to call Secret Witness at 322-4900, or text your tip to 847-411.
