Suspect in Yogurt Store Robbery Arrested

A man is in custody and facing numerous charges after allegedly claiming to have a weapon and stealing an undisclosed amount of money from a local yogurt shop. 

20-year-old Travis Matoon has been arrested on charges of Robbery, Resisting Public Officers, and Probation Violations after allegedly robbing the Honey Treat Yogurt on Smithridge Drive.

Police say on Sunday around 3:00 p.m. a white male entered the yogurt store and presented a note in which he claimed to have a weapon.  No weapon was seen, but the suspect was given an undisclosed amount of money by the store clerks, and then he fled.  

Police say they spotted the suspect in the area of Neil Road and Catalina, and he ran from them.  The suspect was eventually located hiding in a garage at a nearby residence.  After briefly resisting officers, he was placed into custody and was positively identified by the victims from Honey Treat Yogurt.  Police say he still had the money from the business on him.
