Sparks Suspect Who Rammed Ex-Girlfriend's Vehicle Turns Himself In

Posted: Updated:

Update:

The Sparks Police Department says Jordan Phelps turned himself in sometime Friday afternoon. He was booked into the Washoe County Jail on charges of Battery with a Deadly Weapon and Felony Eluding. He is being held on $50,000 bail.

Original Story:

Police say just after midnight on Friday, officers responded to the report of a woman being followed by her ex-boyfriend, 24-year-old Jordan Phelps of Reno, near Pyramid Highway and Victorian Avenue.

While the victim was trying to drive away from Phelps, he followed her in his vehicle, a 2002 Dodge truck with Nevada license plate 209LRG. Police say he rammed the victim's vehicle with his truck and tried to run her off the road. The alleged incident was witnessed by a nearby police officer. When the officer approached Phelps, he drove away in his truck.

The woman was found and taken to a secure area.

Police say Phelps eluded pursing officers throughout Sparks; his truck was found near El Rancho and Wedekind where he ran away to an unknown location. The truck was towed away from the scene.

A few hours later, Phelps was seen in a cab near the Golden Valley exit. A traffic stop was attempted and Phelps got out of the cab before it came to a stop. Police say he then ran away and was believed to be heading to his home in North Valleys.

Police say if caught, he could face charges of battery with a deadly weapon and eluding police officer charges.
