Sacramento Patient Being Tested for Ebola

Posted: Updated:
The California Department of Public Health says there's no confirmed cases of Ebola in the state.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is testing the blood of a patient who checked into Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Sacramento yesterday.

Health officials say the low-risk patient is in isolation.

“I want to emphasize again the risk of Ebola transmission in California is very low, and steps are being take to keep California safe,” says Dr. James Watt, Center for Infectious Diseases.

The hospital says it is in contact with Sacramento County health officials and all protocols are being followed including isolating the unidentified patient while trained staff use protective equipment during treatment.

Test results could take several days.
