Nevada's ACT Test Takers Score Above U.S. Average

Posted: Updated:
Makers of the ACT test say Nevada's Class of 2014 scored higher than the national average in English, reading and math, although only about one-third of graduates took the exam.

A report released this week showed Nevada test-takers earned an average composite score of 21.2 on a 36-point scale that combines scores for English, reading, math and science subtests.

That's slightly above the national average composite score of 21.

The report classified 26% of Nevada test-takers as "college ready" in all four subjects. That's the same as the national average.

ACT test organizers said about 36% of Nevada graduates were tested in 2014. The rate is up 16% from five years ago, but still far behind other states that test nearly all graduates.   (AP)
