Nevada Highway Patrol Troopers have identified the pedestrian killed on Highway 395 in Douglas County earlier this month.

Troopers say 36-year-old Russell R. Roberts of Reno was hit by several vehicles before he died on the roadway.

Troopers say a Toyota pickup driven by 29-year-old Ian C. Snyder of Bishop, California first hit Roberts when he was in the southbound travel lane of 395 near Spring Valley Drive just before 11 p.m. on August 10th.

Roberts was thrown into the northbound lane, where he was again hit by two Douglas County Sheriff's Office patrol vehicles driven by Deputy Samantha Torres and Deputy Justin Williams.

All three vehicles stopped as soon as they realized they had hit someone.

Alcohol nor speed appear to be factors in the crash.

The speed limit in that area of Highway 395 is 55 miles per hour and there is no roadway lighting.

Trooper Chris Kelly of the Nevada Highway Patrol's Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating this tragic event. Witnesses or anyone else with more information can reach out to him at (775) 689-4661 or ckelly@dps.state.nv.us  regarding case number NHP-140801011.
