Angora Creek Restoration Project Begins in Lake Tahoe

Posted: Updated:
The U.S. Forest Service will soon begin a restoration project to help with damage caused by the 2007 Angora Fire near South Lake Tahoe.

The project will enhance two miles of stream channel pools to prevent erosion and help the fish as well as other aquatic life there.

No heavy equipment will be used as crews will replace trees lost during the fire with other downed logs from the forest.

They expect to be finished with the project by the end of next month.

Firefighters say the fire was sparked by an illegal campfire in June 2007. It burned 3,100 acres and destroyed hundreds of homes and structures.
