Authorities to Hold Pedestrian Safety Enforcement Campaign

Posted: Updated:
The Nevada Highway Patrol says 36 pedestrians have been killed by motorists in Nevada this year so for most of this month law enforcement is cracking down to save lives.

“It's extremely important for drivers when they get behind the wheel to understand when they approach a crosswalk or an unmarked crosswalk to make sure they're cognizant of people that are using the highways,” says Sgt. John Schilling.

Through August 24th, officers will be on the lookout for both pedestrians and motorists who break laws, in order to protect children who are heading back to school.

This year 80% of pedestrian deaths have been in Clark County, however, the number of pedestrian deaths in Washoe and Lyon counties have doubled this year.
